The 15 Best Bob’s Burgers Halloween Costumes Worn By Characters on the Show

The Belcher family from Bob's Burgers dressed in Halloween costumes

It is no secret that Bob’s Burgers Halloween episodes are some of the best Halloween episodes on TV. It’s fun to see the Belcher family gets into every October. But probably even better than the episodes themselves are the Halloween Costumes the characters of Bob’s Burgers actually wear on the show itself.

Every year, we get to look forward to what Halloween costumes Bob, Linda Tina, Gene, Louise, Teddy, and the rest of the gang will be wearing. In true Bob’s Burgers fashion (get it? fashion?), the Halloween costumes are typically pun-related.

It’s pretty difficult to narrow it down and even rank them, but here are the 15 best Bob’s Burgers Halloween costumes worn by characters on the show.

15. Bob as Bruce Springsteen (Definitely not Rambo. He’s wearing jeans, duh.) in “Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street”

Kicking off the list is not necessarily the most creative Halloween costume we’ve seen on Bob’s Burgers, but it still makes us laugh. Bob, who only rarely dresses up for Halloween in certain episodes, goes out of his way to dress as The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen. Anyone who knows Bruce Springsteen knows this is exactly who Bob is dressed as, but that doesn’t stop Teddy from admitting he thought Bob was supposed to be Rambo.

Tina Belcher as Sixteen Handles for Halloween

14. Tina Belcher as Sixteen Handles in “Heartbreak Hotel-oween”

We’re gonna see a lot of pun Halloween costumes on this list. It’s where the Belcher kids thrive. This one is a “blink and you’ll miss it” Halloween pun costume that comes in a quick series of flashbacks in “Heartbreak Hotel-oween.” All of the kids are wearing various amazing costumes throughout these flashbacks and we’ll get to a few of them on this list, but the first one to appear is Tina with a whole bunch of handles attached to her. Sixteen handles, to be exact. Get it? Sixteen Candles? Sixteen Handles. Well played, Tina Belcher.

13. Louise Belcher as Anton Chigurh from “No Country for Old Men” (Definitely not Peter from The Monkees, Linda) in “The Wolf of Wharf Street”

The fact that Louise Belcher is technically a nine-year-old child is what makes this costume so damn funny. A kid dressing up as quite possibly the most psychopathic movie villain of all time is a joke in itself. But add Anton Chigurh’s awful bowl cut hairstyle and his eccentric choice of murder weapon: a bolt gun, and you’ve got yourself one of the best Halloween costumes a Belcher has ever worn on Bob’s Burgers.

Louise Belcher as Beetlejuice on Halloween in Bob's Burgers

12. Louise Belcher as Beetle Juice in “Heartbreak Hotel-oween”

I like living in a world where we know the Belcher kids have seen Beetlejuice. Honestly, it seems right up their alley. I love it even more that Louise decided Beetlejuice deserved its own pun Halloween costume. This was another one of the “blink and you’ll miss it” Halloween costumes that came during that quick series of flashbacks in “Heartbreak Hotel-oween,” but it deserves as much recognition as any of the more prominent Halloween costumes we’ve seen on the show.

Gene Belcher as Fiona Apple Sauce for Halloween on Bob's Burgers

11. Gene Belcher as Fiona Apple Sauce in “Pig Trouble in Little Tina"

If I had to guess which Belcher kid listened to Fiona Apple, I would have to say Tina. Then again, Gene is the musician of the Belcher family and I could definitely see him appreciating what Fiona Apple has done for music. Then again, maybe I’m overthinking it and Gene just really wanted a pun that would let him dress up as applesauce because it’s so delicious. Whatever his reasoning, Gene as Fiona Apple Sauce on Bob’s Burgers deserves a spot on this list.

Linda Belcher as Cher-iff for Halloween on Bob's Burgers

10. Linda Belcher as a Cher-iff in “The Wolf of Wharf Street”

Well, Bob earned a spot on this list, so it only makes sense that Linda would as well. Can’t let the kids hog all the Halloween costume glory. Not to be entirely outdone by her offspring on Halloween, Linda worked up her own pun costume in “The Wolf of Wharf Street” as everyone’s new favorite superstar law enforcer: Cher-iff. Do you believe in life after law?

Tina Belcher as Sher-Loch Ness Monster for Halloween on Bob's Burgers

9. Tina Belcher as The Sher-Loch Ness Monster in "The Pumpkinening"

When you think about it, Tina Belcher as the Sher-Loch Ness Monster makes plenty of sense. One of the biggest mysteries of all time is whether or not the Loch Ness monster actually exists. And who better to solve such a mystery than the literary world’s greatest detective Sherlock Holmes? I say, let’s give Tina her own one-man show where she tries to track herself down.

Gene Belcher as Cat Stevens for Halloween on Bob's Burgers

8. Gene Belcher as Cat Stevens in “Heartbreak Hotel-oween”

This is the second Gene costume on this list that seems to be devoted to two of his favorite things: music and puns. It’s one of the easier costumes to guess during that “Heartbreak Hotel-oween” series of flashbacks since he’s dressed in a giant cat costume and has a name tag that says “Stevens” across it. Throw in the guitar and there’s no question that Gene’s Halloween costume that year was a play on the “Wild World” singer’s feline-heavy name.

Gene Belcher as Lady Goo Goo Gaga for Halloween on Bob's Burgers

7. Gene Belcher as Lady Goo Goo Gaga in “Heartbreak Hotel-oween”

And here we are again. Gene as a musician pun Halloween costume during the “Heartbreak Hotel-oween" flashbacks. This time he’s the Poker Face signing Lady Gaga on top with a little bit of a baby on the bottom. In other words, he’s dressed as Lady Gaga, except he’s wearing a diaper and a pacifier making his Halloween costume on Bob’s Burgers that year: Lady Goo Goo Gaga.

Gene Belcher as Turner & Hooch for Halloween on Bob's Burgers

6. Gene Belcher as Turner & Hooch in “Tina and the Real Ghost”

We’ve already seen Gene as a man-cat on this list (ahem, Cat Stevens), so naturally, it was only a matter of time before we saw Gene as a man-dog. But he’s not just any man-dog, he’s both Turner and Hooch from the 1989 film of the same name starring Tom Hanks and Beasley the dog, an adorable French mastiff. It’s no surprise that Gene opted to dress as this buddy cop duo without a buddy of his own. He’s got personality enough to pull off being the both of them.  (image via Bernard Derriman on Twitter)

Regular Sized Rudy as Paul Rudd in I Love You Man for Halloween on Bob's Burgers

5. Regular Sized Rudy as Paul Rudd in “I Love You, Man” in “Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street”

Congrats to the only non-Belcher on this list. The lovable Regular-Sized Rudy only makes you love him even more when he reveals in “The Wolf of Wharf Street” that he’s dressed as Paul Rudd in “I Love You, Man”. It’s just a sweater with a collared shirt, which was pretty much what every generic white male was wearing in 2009 when the film came out, so good on Rudy for turning everyday attire into a Halloween costume.

Gene Belcher as Queen Latifah during her U.N.I.T.Y. Phase for Halloween on Bob's Burgers

4. Gene Belcher as Queen Latifah During Her U.N.I.T.Y. PHASE in “Full Bars”

If you know Gene at all, you should not be surprised that he has an appreciation for Queen Latifah and all she’s done for women in hip-hop. And just women in general. Queen Latifah’s “U.N.I.T.Y.” phase was all about speaking up for women and the disrespect of women in society. 100% Gene approved if you ask me. Way to make a statement, as well as show your respect, with this Halloween costume, Gene.

Gene Belcher as Andre the Giant 3000 for Halloween on Bob's Burgers

3. Gene Belcher as André the Giant 3000 in “Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street”

Well, we know from the last costume that Gene appreciates hip-hop music and the artists who have helped the genre grow and evolved. So it should come as no surprise that he chose to incorporate Outkast’s very own André "3000" Benjamin into his Halloween costume in “Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street.” But it’s the combination of wrestling legend and “The Princess Bride” star, André the Giant that gets Gene Belcher into the top three of this list.

Louise Belcher as Peter Pan's Labyrinth for Halloween on Bob's Burgers

2. Louise Belcher as Peter Pan’s Labyrinth in “The Pumpkinening”

Have no fear, Louise Belcher is here to finish off this list for us. Not one to be outdone, she’s bringing in the final two costumes on this list. First off is this combo of Peter Pan with the subtle addition of the very terrifying Pale Man monster from Guillermo del Toro’s dark-fantasy horror film from 2006: “Pan’s Labyrinth.” Naturally, Peter Pan is way too cheerful a costume for our girl Louise. Way to darken the character up a bit, Louise.

Louise Belcher as The Dragon with the Girl Tattoo for Halloween on Bob's Burgers

1. Louise Belcher as The Dragon with the Girl Tattoo in “Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street”

With six Halloween costumes on this list, you could argue that Gene is the Bob’s Burgers Halloween costumes champion. But quantity isn’t quality and when it comes to quality, Louise managed to snag the top two costumes on this list. Coming in at number one is The Dragon with the Girl Tattoo, which is of course a play on “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” the Stieg Larsson 2005 bestselling novel and 2011 David Fincher film.

It’s probably the Bob’s Burgers Halloween costume we see mentioned the most on the internet too. There are incredible figurines of Louise Belcher in this costume available if you can track them down and there are also so many great photos of people who have actually dressed as Louise as The Dragon with the Girl Tattoo in real life. Thanks for being an inspiration to us all, Louise Belcher.

Honorable Mentions: Darryl as Pee Wee Herman/Tina Belcher as Mom-bie, Nun of Your Business, Toast Busters/Gene as Handsome Grapes/Louise as Blade Bunner/Tammy as Hot Mess (stolen from Tina, of course)/ Gene and Tina as the Twister from “Twister”.
