Bob’s Burgers Recipe: Gene’s Loaded Baked Potato Lasagna

If you watched the Regular-Sized Rudy centric episode, “ The Amazing Rudy” (Season 14, episode 2), you have not forgotten Gene’s Baked Potato Lasagna since the moment it was described by The Belchers themselves.

And then of course there was the moment where they all got to try the creation, cinnamon raisin bagels on all. Surely this was meant as a meal that should only ever exist in a cartoon and never in the real world, right?

No way! We knew the minute we saw it that we had to make it so we could actually try it for ourselves. Watch the video above to find out how to make it and then to see what we thought of it.

If you want to try it yourself, here is the exact recipe we created and followed:

Recipe for Gene’s Loaded Baked Potato Lasagna:

Ingredients:
1 package of cornbread
1 egg for cornbread
1/4 cup oil for cornbread
1/2 cup milk for cornbread

1/2 pound dried spaghetti
1 jar Roa’s bolognese sauce
1 package no-boil lasagna noodles
2 15oz cans of chili

1 cinamin raisin bagel, toasted

14 oz pre-made mashed potatoes
1/4 cup chives, shopped
1/4 cup sour cream
4 strips cooked bacon, chopped
4-6 oz grated white cheddar
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to the temperature on the cornbread box. Get a pot of salted water boiling for the spaghetti.

2. Make your cornbread batter according to the back of the box (adding the egg, milk, and oil). Meanwhile, cook your spaghetti until al dente and strain.

2. Start layering! In a casserole dish, spoon some of your pasta sauce to cover the bottom of the pan. Then, layer four lasagna noodles over the sauce.

3. If watery, strain your canned chili. Next, spread it over the lasagna noodles.

5. Tear up the bagel and add on top of the chili. Now, add another layer of lasagna noodles.

6. Load up your mashed potatoes! Add sour cream, chives, a handful of white cheddar cheese, and bacon to potatoes and stir.

7. Add a layer of loaded potatoes to the lasagna. Add another layer of white cheddar.

8. Toss your drained spaghetti with the rest of the jarred sauce and add the spaghetti layer.

9. Top spaghetti with your Parmesan cheese.

10. Add your cornbread batter and top with more white cheddar

11. Bake in the oven, uncovered according to the back of the cornbread box. Probably 25 minutes.

12. DIG IN! Bon ape-Gene Belcher!
